Hibiscus coccineus

Huge, gorgeous red blooms on tall, sturdy, upright stems with red tinted, maple-like leaves.

Native to the southeast and Gulf Coast states, it is naturally found in wet areas such as marshes and ditches. It prefers full sun and moist-wet soils. Tolerant of heat and humidity.

Very slow to break dormancy in the spring.
